A good supporting system is important for a professional installed ventilation system. Rectangular duct work is mostly installed with mounting rails, sliding nuts, corner profiles and threaded rods. Diffusers are in most cases the preferred choice for ceiling applications. Depending on the configuration of its deflectors, diffusers can produce radial, directional horizontal or even perpendicular air patterns. There are numerous typed of diffusers available in the market.

Despite the growing popularity of demand based ventilation systems, which utilizes sensors to determine the ventilation needs, manual ventilation systems are still considered popular. At the design stage of a ventilation system, an important decision is the choice between a simpler manual control via potentiometers or a fully automated control system with sensors that often make manual setting very difficult.

VAV systems are considered more complex systems but when implemented correctly offer a more cost-effective solution when compared to CAV systems. The proper functioning of a VAV system depends on the performance of the VAV dampers.

In most cases, a ventilation system is requested to operate in varying conditions. As a result, fans that operate at a constant speed are often over-performing which results in energy loses. Variable frequency inverters are devices, often found in commercial facilities, that are used to control the rotational speed of fan’s motors. Besides fan speed control, VFD are also being used in air conditioning compressors and for the control of water pumps.

The removal of air contaminants, for example airborne particles, microorganisms and gaseous contaminants, plays a crucial role in achieving the desired indoor air quality level. The most common type of contaminant is airborne particle which, in most cases, can be effectively eliminated with the use of filters.

The different branches of ventilation or air-conditioning ducting networks can be subject to variations of airflows and pressure. As a result, it is necessary to balance the different branches in order to achieve the desired air supply or extraction. The balancing process can become increasingly difficult as the number of branches and number of diffusers increases. Constant flow regulators can offer a simple and reliable way of resolving such problems and can provide precise regulation that ensures hygiene and thermal comfort for the occupants while optimizing the performance of fans and of the HVAC system as a whole.

They are devices that use electrical energy in order to drive an impeller which rotates causing air to move in a certain direction. Depending on the ventilation needs of the conditioned spaces and the overall geometry of the spaces, the inlet and/or outlet of a fan can be connected to air ducts in order to supply or extract air to/from spaces located away from the fans.

The ventilation strategy of cleanrooms must take into consideration numerous factors that may affect the smooth operation of the serviced area. Besides controlling the temperature and the humidity of a space, cleanroom ventilation systems should strictly regulate the concentration of various air contaminants for example solid particle or gaseous contaminants. Ideally, a properly designed cleanroom ventilation system should ensure that the strict air quality criteria of the conditioned space are satisfied at the minimum possible energy consumption and operating cost.

The main aim of a Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system is to achieve and maintain the desired indoor environment condition at the minimum possible energy consumption. For big centralized systems, it is of great importance that the proper design strategy is selected. The two main air system types found in centralized HVAC systems are Constant Air Volume (CAV) and Variable Air Volume (VAV) systems. This article aims to present the main features of the two types of systems, their advantages and disadvantages and what is the selection process between the two at the design stage of an HVAC system.

Air outlets, like grilles and diffusers, play a very important role in the smooth and efficient operation of an air distribution system. Selecting the right product for can be a complex process, as the selected products many times have to meet both specific aerodynamic and aesthetic criteria. For this reason, the market offers a wide variety of products that are able to satisfy most of the needs of today’s HVAC system designs.

Fire dampers are specialized fittings placed on the ducting in a building. Their primary job is to shut off the duct in case of a fire and prevent a fire from passing from one section of a building to another. Where there are ventilation ducts passing through a wall or floor, there will be openings where smoke and fire can pass from one room into another. Correctly placed fire dampers can stop the smoke, fire and heat from getting through from one room to another.

Air curtains are devices that utilize high speed fans to form an air barrier in the doorways of commercial buildings.

The importance of HVAC control systems in achieving the desired indoor conditions at the minimum possible energy consumption cannot be overstated. As buildings are still one of the major energy consuming sectors worldwide, the emphasis on the development of energy saving control solutions by the industry and the academia is becoming stronger.

During the ISH in Frankfurt we’ve spent several hours at the stand of ATC Air Trade Centre, our partner in Air Handling Units. While visiting the stand with several of our worldwide connections, we got to see the new #AHU’s on display with fully integrated controls and the entire range of accessories. In addition, the plexi cover allowed us to have an clear view on the quality components featured in the unit like the heat exchanger, fans, coils and so on.

We’ve had some interesting meetings at the stand of our partner Grada International during the ISH in Frankfurt. It was easy for us, thanks to all the available information on their stand, to explain why we have chosen Grada for their high-quality products such as wall grilles, floor grilles, swirl, slot and multi-directional diffusers, … They also gave us a small demonstration how they are designing and improving their products using #BIM technology and it was exciting to see how they make it look so easy to work with.

We are proud that we have signed a new contract with our first female employee on a special day like this! We can’t wait for her to join us soon and proudly introduce her to you, our Goveco friends.
