Jet Fans

A jet fan, also known as an impulse or tunnel fan, is a specialized device designed to move air with high velocity and directed thrust, often without extensive ductwork. Engineered to generate a powerful jet, these fans induce airflow within enclosed spaces, such as tunnels or car parks, by creating an impulse effect. Featuring a cylindrical casing, they utilize an axial or sometimes centrifugal impeller and motor, often with guide vanes or nozzles to optimize thrust. The primary application of jet fans is for longitudinal ventilation in tunnels (road, rail, metro) and for smoke and heat extraction or daily ventilation in large, enclosed spaces like underground car parks and industrial halls. This 'impulse ventilation' system offers significant advantages over traditional ducted systems in such environments, including reduced installation costs, less space requirement, and efficient control over air movement, particularly crucial for rapid smoke clearance during emergencies. Many jet fans are also reversible, allowing for flexible control of airflow direction to suit different operational or emergency scenarios.
