Fire Damper Cartridges
Fire Damper Cartridges are modular, specialized components designed to provide passive fire protection within ventilation ducts by sealing against the spread of fire. They are typically compact units that are inserted directly into ductwork or used in conjunction with a sleeve to create an effective fire break, often used where space constraints prohibit larger, traditional damper frames. These cartridges are equipped with either intumescent material or a fusible link mechanism. When exposed to heat, a fusible link melts, triggering the rapid closure of metal blades, or the intumescent material expands dramatically to form a solid, fire-resistant seal. This instantaneous action isolates the fire compartment, preventing flames and superheated air from traveling through the HVAC system to adjacent zones. Fire damper cartridges offer a high level of compliance and flexibility for installers, simplifying retrofit projects and installations in confined spaces. By ensuring the integrity of fire-rated walls and floors where ductwork passes through, they are an essential and reliable element in maintaining a building's compartmentation strategy and meeting strict fire safety codes.
